- in the end...does it really matter -

in the end, does it really matter?

does it matter that your child wants to wear the same pajamas four nights in a row or is the pickiest eater ever?

does it matter that you just can't do everything...so you skip that workout, or you order take out for dinner?

does it really matter that things didn't go perfectly as you had planned...that you were late to that football game...or that you have to plan your life around nap schedules still, so you just have to miss out on some things?

does it really matter that you let your child come into your room and sleep next to you just because she wants to be close to you and that's the reason she just can't sleep through the night...are you really creating a "non breakable" habit...or are you just being there for you child when they are young, and need you the most?

does it really matter if your house just isn't laden with Christmas decorations because you just haven't had the time to create that "perfect" Christmas look...does it mean that it's cold and un-festive, or is it actually the people in a house that create the love and warmth, rather than the decorations?

does it really matter if your car is dirty, the laundry is piling up, gifts need to be wrapped, and yet you choose to bring your child to see Santa instead of staying home to do the housework?

in light of the horrific tragedy that happened in Connecticut last Friday, the answer to all of these questions is a big, resounding no! these are not the important things in life...these are not the things that should be causing you stress or anger. yet, these are all things we have been battling with in our house over the past couple of weeks. these are the things that we have thought were important. these are the trivial things that we have bickered about under our roof, or raised our voices about. we are not a perfect family, and we never will be. but I can tell you, Friday opened my eyes and made me see so much more clearly...and made me realize that we need to work on becoming a family that tries to live every day to the fullest.

what if this was your last day with your loved ones...before you fight, raise your voices, or stress out over something, ask yourself...what if this was your last day with your loved ones...in the end, does it really matter?

i love this. i've found myself asking myself this over the past few days. i no longer want to spend time on trivial things, because like you said they don't matter! it's such a tragedy, and i hope those families heal soon because i can't even imagine...

This post is so, so beautiful, my dear Kyna.

I'm glad you did decide to post, because I think many of us are feeling these sentiments exactly -- though we may not have said so as eloquently as you.

::hugs::

I'm bear-hugging you right now, I hope you can feel it. Seriously, Kyna, that was so perfectly said. (and so timely for my heart). I love you, and I love your words. May Christmas bring you and your sweet family peace and a whole lotta love. xo
