- raising a confident young girl -

Having a little girl, I know that we will be dealing with some issues as she gets older that boys don't necessarily have. I want to raise an amazing, self confident, independent girl.

I want my daughter to know that she is beautiful and amazing no matter what she does. I have made this my mission as she gets older. I can not stress how important this is, especially in this day and age. My parents did their best at this, and I definitely don't have any major self confidence or body image  "issues" by any means, but I'm not going to lie...I definitely don't feel overly confident about my looks, my body, my clothing style, my hair, or even my personality! Some women make these things look so easy and effortless. They make their beauty look easy, their outfits are effortless, their houses are perfectly decorated without looking like they tried too hard. I envy these women...a lot.  I have never been one of these women and I wish I was. I recently stumbled upon a couple of these women here and here (and I hope they take that as a compliment!) They are creative, stylish, very talented, very beautiful, and great mommas. They are always put together! They make it look natural and easy! By getting to know them recently, I am hoping to gain the motivation to start practicing "making it look easy"...to become more comfortable with my looks, my body, my style...to just be me and to exude confidence in being me. Because I know the best way to teach Ellie these things, is to model them myself. I have a long way to go....a LONG way. I'll take it one day at a time.

Because I want this little girl to be grow up being the most self confident girl ever. I want her to always know how amazing she is!

I sure hope I can take all you have said above an apply it in my life when my lil girl is born!

Your baby girl is beyond beautiful Kyna! Keep doing what your doing and you are going to create the next Fashion Icon, President or better yet - a mother just like you!

You're already there just by being conscious of and working toward your goal. You're a great mom!
Great post... this is the gift I also want most to give to my girls!

I definitely am with you on thinking how easy others make it look! I've learned that by embracing the beauty I already have inside, I make my outside look pretty good too. And I FEEL it.

I think you are absolutely awesome for making it a goal to help your little girl know how beautiful she is. Lots of parents forget that we are their first examples ever. Good for you. :)

It is so great that you want to teach your daughter to be confident and I think its great that you want to model it yourself. Children love to mimic what they see their parents doing--seeing is believing! Following you from Mom Bloggers Club. What you are doing for your daughter by doing this is the most precious gift you can ever give her. The mere fact that you are endeavoring to do this shows your heart, grace and unconditional love as a mother. You are beautiful inside and out! All the best to you and your little angel.
