- discovery and wonder -

I don't think I will ever get tired of watching Ellie discover new things. It is so much fun to watch her squeal in delight when she finds something new outside. And then when we tell her what it is that she just found, she'll repeat the word over and over again as if she is trying so hard to memorize it.

She found some snails in our front yard the other day. She named this one "Doo-doo". Don't ask me where she came up with that name, but it was the cutest thing to watch her follow it around saying "Hi Doo-doo"

She sat on the steps so patiently for such a long time, watching it move at it's slow snail pace...never getting bored or tired of it. She was just so proud that she had found a snail!

And then, I tried to get a shot of the two of us, because I never seem to have shots of just the two of us...sigh, of course, the little stinker wouldn't look at the camera!

Ah, I love that little girl so much! And I hope discovering new and wondrous things never gets old to her!

There's a metaphor here... a small child watching a snail. Their childishness and babyhood flying by so fast, the snail inching along so slowly.

I think this is going to be my meditation today. :)

Nice to read about your enjoyment of your daughter. Your writing tone and your photos convey it well. She's precious.

Ahhh... Ellie is just a dream! You managed to make snails look magical...lol. I think there is nothing more beautiful than a mama that loves being a mommy, & a truly happy child. You are such a wonderful mama, & girlfriend... how pretty are you!!!

i think the picture of you two is still super cute... it's so typical of those little uncooperative stinkers ;)

and i love the snail pictures, how she was just so observant! i'm sure parker woulda picked it up & it woulda gone straight to his mouth. gross.

What a wise teacher, Ellie is. We can learn a lot about patience and how to take joy in nature.

You captured the moment so perfectly. I say this one goes into the Scrapbook Hall of Fame.

How sweet! I love when children find something new.

There are also very few pictures of me with my daughter. I always joke with my husband that she is going to grow up asking where Mommy was since I'm always behind the camera.

I remember when Dylan watched a snail. It was the cutest thing. I was running late for an appointment and it made me realize that sometimes we just need to stop and watch with our children as they discover the world around them. I will never forget that day.

p.s. About 10% of the pictures on my blog or of any pictures contain me with my son. It seems we are always the ones trying to capture every moment. :)
